Now, we are delighted to present Dr. Emerita Bañados:
Emerita Bañados is an associate professor at and the Director of the UdeC English Online Program at Universidad de Concepción, an innovative EFL b-learning environment for Chilean citizens. Her expertise includes Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL), design of multimedia courseware materials and language learning environments (b-learning/e-learning), intercultural tele-collaboration for language learning and teacher training. She has been a CALL practitioner for over 20 years and has worked as a technical advisor for projects granted by the Chilean Ministry of Education for English learning with use of ICT in many universities.
“The Chilean government seeks fuller global integration for their citizens. Reducing the current English proficiency handicap is a key strategy within the movement to increase the country’s global competitiveness. This will increase access for university student outbound mobility, further raising worldwide academic knowledge and employment opportunities. Consequently, what can the government, higher education institutions, and stakeholders in all sectors do to advance collaboratively to meet English proficiency levels required to further enhance possibilities for successful international mobility?”
Emerita will be speaking about the aims and means to improve English proficiency among Chilean citizens at the upcoming ETN Focus Workshop on 26-27 September in Santiago, Chile.
In the meantime, you can find more information about Emerita and her work on her official website and LinkedIn page.
